Who we are

All Outdoors Guide ("we", "us") publishes independent outdoor gear reviews and buying guides. This policy covers offers.alloutdoorsguide.com and the product-matcher funnels hosted on it. Our main site, alloutdoorsguide.com, is covered by its own privacy policy. Where the two differ, this page governs what happens on this subdomain.

What we collect

Information you give us. If you use a product matcher, we record the answers you select — for example that you're protecting a patio rather than a campsite. These are preference selections, not identity data. We do not ask for and do not want your name, email address, phone number, or payment details, and there is no way to submit them on this site.

Information collected automatically. Like most sites, our hosting and analytics record technical details when you visit:

• IP address and approximate region derived from it
• Browser and device type, screen size, and operating system
• The page you arrived from, the pages you viewed, and how long you stayed
• Advertising click identifiers appended to the URL when you arrive from an ad (for example Reddit's rdt_cid) and campaign tags such as utm_source

Cookies, pixels, and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies and tracking pixels:

• Essential. Remembering your position in a product matcher so the page works. These are first-party and expire when you leave.
• Measurement. Counting page views, matcher starts and completions, and outbound clicks, so we can tell which guides are useful.
• Advertising. Pixels from advertising platforms — currently Reddit and Meta — plus server-side conversion reporting to those platforms. These let us measure which ads led to a visit and, where the platform supports it, stop showing you ads you've already acted on. We may also load these through Google Tag Manager.

We do not use cookies to build a profile of you across unrelated websites for sale to third parties.

Affiliate links and Amazon

Our product links are affiliate links. When you click one, you are taken to a retailer — usually Amazon — and if you buy something we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We participate in affiliate programs including the Levanta network.

The affiliate link carries an identifier that tells the network the visit came from us. Once you leave our site, the retailer's own privacy policy governs what happens next. We never see your order, your payment information, or what you bought — only aggregate commission reporting from the network.

Recommendations are based on your answers and our testing. Commission rates do not influence which product a matcher returns.

How we use what we collect

• To measure and optimise our advertising, and to report conversions to ad platforms

Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent for advertising and non-essential analytics cookies, and on our legitimate interest in running and securing the site for everything else.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do share limited data with:

• Advertising platforms (Reddit, Meta) — conversion and click data, which under some US state laws counts as "sharing" for targeted advertising
• Affiliate networks and retailers (Levanta, Amazon) — the click identifier that attributes a referral to us
• Service providers — hosting, analytics, and video hosting (Wistia), acting on our instructions
• Authorities — where we are legally required to

Your choices

• Browser controls. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Essential first-party cookies aside, the site works without them.
• Ad personalisation. Reddit and Meta both let you limit ad personalisation in your account settings. You can also opt out industry-wide via the NAI and DAA tools.
• Global Privacy Control. We honour the GPC signal where your browser sends one, treating it as an opt-out of sharing for targeted advertising.
• Rights requests. Depending on where you live — including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws, as well as the UK and EEA — you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, to opt out of targeted advertising, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We may need to verify your request; because we hold very little identifying data, we may ask for the approximate date and page of your visit.

How long we keep it

Matcher answers and event logs are retained for up to 24 months for measurement and fraud detection, then deleted or aggregated so they can no longer be tied to a single visit. Aggregate statistics may be kept indefinitely.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets that threshold. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security and international transfers

The site is served over HTTPS and event data is stored on access-controlled infrastructure in the United States. If you are outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version. Material changes will be announced on this page.
